Asus EeePC Update

I’m enjoying playing around with the eeepc , sure the keyboard need a bit of time to get used to ( its small if you haven’t noticed ) but , still usable , I type a bit slower than I normally do , but still , the speed reduction isn’t that huge ( I’m not 1 finger typeset or a secretary material )

It’s been working fine with all the WiFi spots I have been to, and worked with WiFi in dewaniyas I frequent.

If you know Kuwaiti culture you would know how most people enjoy teasing and tell jokes at your own expense, I got 3 jokes asking if it was my mobile, 2 about if it was a sandwich

another funny thing , some dude told me that I’m so last year , his brother bought this 2 years ago , when I questioned him further I told him maybe your brother bought a Sony viao , he insisted it was an asus same model as mine but black , so it seem there are people with time machines in Kuwait

Muna Al-Fuzai should be stopped from writing

I don’t usually follow English newspapers in Kuwait , but it does seem they have a low standard of writers ( or lack off )
there is no other explanation why they leave someone like Muna Al-Fuzai still writing in Kuwait Times

A religious Islamic ruling was made recently to approve the husband’s right to take his wife’s salary because the time she spent outside was his own and thus he is entitled to take her salary

What ? are you drunk , who the hell said anything like that ?

its not logical and not only that but Islam doesn’t promote this

أجمعَ فقهاء المسلمين على أن لكلٍّ من الزوجين ذِمّته الماليّة، ولا ولاية لأحد الزوجين على الآخر في المال ولا في النفس، ولا ينوب أحدهما عن الآخر إلا بطريق الوكالة أو التفويض، وأنّ عقد الزواج لا يُرتِّب إلا الحقوق الزوجية، وأوجب الإسلام على الزوج أن يُنفِق على زوجه كل أنواع النَّفقة المُتعارَف عليها في كل عصر وأوان، وليس لأيٍّ منهما حقُّ التصرُّف في مُمتلكات الآخر إلا بما جرى به العُرْف في متاع المنزل والمعيشة، وإذا كان هذا لم تندمِج أموالُهما بمُقتضى عقد الزوجية، وإنما يكون هذا بتراضيهما وبمقتضى عقود التصرف في الأموال المعروفة شرعًا والمتعارَف عليها كالشِّركة بأنواعها المشروع

Muslim scholars unanimously Agree that each spouse have a separate , and no spouse has the control of the other wealth or life and no spouse may have mandate over the other unless by agency , and marriage only arrange conjugal rights and Islam requires the husband to cover all his wife expenses that is the norm in every age and time
and not any of them has the right to dispose of the property of the other unless its the custom in the home objects and their money isn’t combined by marriage , its only combined by ways of regular contracts like company and such

so what we get it ?

Asus EeePC review

first off , i wish to remind everyone that i never won anything big
now i got that out of my system on with the review

operating system
the operating system is xandros
in short its a Linux distro that look a lot like windows , for more information check the website linked above
i know what most would think , Linux ! hard system ! Run away !!
It the same feeling i had at first , but to tell you the truth it isn’t as hard as it sound , yes some stuff sound complicated but help is everywhere online , and i assume anyone buying EeePC to have internet access on other computer or have a Linux nerd on call

Software

they have couple of category’s , first off
– Internet :
you got Firefox , skype , pidgin ( IM ) , google doc , Ebook reader , internet raido

– Work :

open office suit , PDF reader , dictionary
– Learn :

couple of educational games and paint
– Play :

media player ( its playing everything i have on my PC Anime / movies etc , music manager , photo manager , video manager , Webcam , sound Recorder

your typical Flash games nothing fancy , but fun none the less
( my niece played for up to 40 minutes which isn’t a short amount for 7years old )

Problems :
i haven’t gotten around to check for a FIx or work on it

– Foxmarks isn’t copying my Bookmarks in firefox
– Zain Ego isn’t working
– Jaci says skype video isn’t working , didn’t test it , some post on the net say that an update is out and solve it , not yet tested also

A Court Case to Follow

Sometimes i hate how hard it is to follow court cases in Kuwait
because some of them are realy important

One Case that just came up is very important to all bloggers and webmasters in kuwait because it will set a precedent
From Alaan news site

وجهت النيابة العامة صباح اليوم رسميا للدكتور سعد بن طفله العجمي-ناشر جريدة – اتهاما بالإساءة إلى مؤسسي شركة أمانة، وذلك بموجب قانون المطبوعات والنشر رقم 3 لسنة 2006. وقد دفع الدكتور بن طفله بعدم اختصاص النيابة النظر في هذا الاتهام بناء على:
1. عدم الاختصاص القانوني لأن قانون المطبوعات والنشر لا يشمل النشر على شبكة الانترنت.
2. عدم الاختصاص المكاني لأن الحاوي الرقمي (السيرفر SERVER ) لموقع جريدة الان موجود في الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية.

The Prosecutors office today morning officially accused Dr Saad Bin Tiflah al Ajmee – the publisher of al alaan – an accusation of abuse toward the Amana company founders , under the press & publishing Law of 2006 , Dr Saad Claimed that Prosecutors had no jurisdiction to consider this accusation for these reasons
1- Lack of legal jurisdiction :The press & publication law does not cover online publishing
2- Lack of jurisdiction :The server which host Alaan online newspaper is in the USA

That would set a precedent for all us bloggers ( as far as i know , most blogs use Blogger or wordpress and some use private server neither of which are in Kuwait )

its small ( realy small ) and i think i need a bit of time to get used to its controls , not to mention it got another oprating system
( its not that hard , most of these softwares it has i used before
