A Court Case to Follow

Sometimes i hate how hard it is to follow court cases in Kuwait
because some of them are realy important

One Case that just came up is very important to all bloggers and webmasters in kuwait because it will set a precedent

وجهت النيابة العامة صباح اليوم رسميا للدكتور سعد بن طفله العجمي-ناشر جريدة – اتهاما بالإساءة إلى مؤسسي شركة أمانة، وذلك بموجب قانون المطبوعات والنشر رقم 3 لسنة 2006. وقد دفع الدكتور بن طفله بعدم اختصاص النيابة النظر في هذا الاتهام بناء على:
1. عدم الاختصاص القانوني لأن قانون المطبوعات والنشر لا يشمل النشر على شبكة الانترنت.
2. عدم الاختصاص المكاني لأن الحاوي الرقمي (السيرفر SERVER ) لموقع جريدة الان موجود في الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية.

The Prosecutors office today morning officially accused Dr Saad Bin Tiflah al Ajmee – the publisher of al alaan – an accusation of abuse toward the Amana company founders , under the press & publishing Law of 2006 , Dr Saad Claimed that Prosecutors had no jurisdiction to consider this accusation for these reasons
1- Lack of legal jurisdiction :The press & publication law does not cover online publishing
2- Lack of jurisdiction :The server which host Alaan online newspaper is in the USA

That would set a precedent for all us bloggers ( as far as i know , most blogs use Blogger or wordpress and some use private server neither of which are in Kuwait )

2007 Kuwait Car show , why the focus on women ?

So me and couple guys went to the Kuwait Car Show 2007 , i was planning on replacing my car sometime soon ( mostly in the next 6 months ) so i went to check whats new and price ranges

Something realy strange i noticed this year , the excessive Usage of booth babes in this Show
It seemed as if every Company had some women who her sole duty is to look pretty and know how much the car is worth

At this rate this dude

may turn into Female just for the attention

few random tidbits from here and there ( in my mind )

* was checking around MOI site , thats one nice site , now they even take pictures of impounded car that are going to be sold off in an auction and posting on the site , one great idea , big thump up on the site

* Went to the Kuwait Car show , took a lot of pictures ( around 100 ) went with couple of friends , and one of them ( who i lent a camera ) came later to me and was saying that the Camera is out of charge , then i found out he had done over 300 pictures ..
those will be soon up on flicker with couple comment about booth babes 😛

* speaking of booth babes ,what good are they in a car show if they are going to pretend to be able to answer question then calling on an Indian guy to answer it ? just walk around and don’t act smart

* Commitments , too much of them lately it seem , couple online and couple offline i should re-evaluate them

* Power point presentation : its funny how some presentation i make ( which took a combined time of 30-40 minute ) get high grades and praise , I’m not sure why either , maybe because they look genuine effort ?

* why when i’m asked for IT help i don’t get normal problems ?
Internet not working ? most normal IT people will just hook the cable or check IP address but me no
its had to be the VOIP thingy and someone switched the AC downgrader from the handset to the main Adapter

* Been following the Book about Mubarak AlKabeer on Alari newspaper , well thats 10 KD saved ( that was the price at the kuwait book fair ) because it seem like Biased Rubbish , just a small sample

you know , we aren’t idiots , he killed them , just say it and don’t Float around it , this book is considering its self a history book not a romantic novel

Kuwait Book Fair 2007

Well i went there , bought some books , and took some pictures 🙂

if you are looking for English books there isn’t much there , its mainly Arabic

anyway , what i noticed this year
( for past year view check this [link] )

– no picture this time for syria which is a good thing

to see how its should be done the saudies give us a good example

– of course it wouldn’t be a good show without a country disrespecting kuwait in some way

flag in the pathway ? i wanted to smack it to drop it , keep your flag in your stand

– speaking of stands , Kuna stand was the best content award

my god i took the picture at the second day ! can you be any slower ?

Kuwait Book fair

As far as i know ,, and according to the Kuwait international fair company [ KiF ]
The book fair is from 13th till 23 of November

of course i haven’t noticed any ad or even a small bit in the newspapers ( other than some general complaining about banning of books which happen every year ) way to go The National Council for Culture, Arts and Literature
the good part that the NCCAL* have a website and they set a side a section for Kuwait book fair
but its in Arabic [ link ]

* thats the short they used on their home page , i didn’t make this up , i just love the irony that it sound like the Kuwait word nagal نغل which translate into a$$hole
